Historical Photographical Processes

As our Photobase kickoff event and as a follow up on the outstanding exhibition “Chasing Shadows” (presented at CFCP during the PhotoIreland Festival) we are hosting a talk by Ian Mitton (http://ianmitton.com/Info.html) on Historical Photographical Processes.

The talk will investigate the expressive possibilities of the Cyanotype and Van Dyke processes used for making the aptly named blue-toned and brown toned prints. Different chemistry formulas, emulsions, coating methods and paper choices will be discussed and a selection of works developed using these techniques will be presented.

PHOTOBASE

PHOTOBASE has been set up to present a series of debates and talks, discussions and workshops by photographers and reviewers on their past and newest projects. The monthly event will showcase work by national and international photographers to the audiences in Dublin.

The Centre for Creative Practices aims to develop, sustain, promote and present new arts and creative practices in Dublin and Ireland through the organisation of artistic events and education.

The current climate might seem to be against us. We dare to believe the opposite. We believe that culture is a fundamental value for every society, that the arts are an indispensable system of reference for personal and collective values, an example of diversity and tolerance and a vital tool to neutralise the stagnation.
