American Astronaut
Directed by Cory McAbee
Samuel Curtis, an astronaut from Earth, receives a valuable gift in exchange for completing one of his missions: a cloning device already in the process of preparing the Real Live Girl. He decides to go to Jupiter with her, where women simply don’t exist, and trade the clone of the Real Live Girl for the Boy Who Actually Saw a Woman’s Breast – a well-known cult figure. He wants to take the Boy to Venus, a planet inhabited exclusively by women, where the protagonist is supposed to get the body of Johnny R, a human stud. The plan seems simple at first, until Samuel meets his nemesis – Professor Heiss, who follows him through the whole solar system. Heiss wants to get Curtis and kill him, but before he accomplishes that, he destroys everyone who has anything to do with Samuel…

CFCP CINEMA
Celebration of diversity |
| |
| CFCP CINEMA monthly screenings in a comfortable space in the heart of Dublin. |
| |
CFCP CINEMA has been set up as a totally open-access initiative - we have no selection process and no censorship*. We show what we're given and let the audience make up their minds. All we want is to celebrate the diversity of the moving image and share it with our audiences. The lack of pre-selection induces a greater element of chance and a possibility for the utmost variety.
(*Of course, we also need to make sure that any type of pornography, films presenting paedophilia, racist or fascist content will not be considered for screenings.) |
| |
CFCP CINEMA shows take place once per month on the second Monday of each month. We aim to show ALL kind of films and videos at each show. The shows will be 2.5 hours long with a short break. We will provide a relaxing informal atmosphere, big screen, good sound, tea & coffee and you are more than welcome to bring your own refreshments with you. We will introduce the films and the film makers are encouraged to answer questions on their films if they so wish. We keep the entrance price as low as we can - €5 for members & €7.50 for non members - we still have to pay the rent. |

The Centre for Creative Practices aims to develop, sustain, promote and present new arts and creative practices in Dublin and Ireland through the organisation of artistic events and education.
The current climate might seem to be against us. We dare to believe the opposite. We believe that culture is a fundamental value for every society, that the arts are an indispensable system of reference for personal and collective values, an example of diversity and tolerance and a vital tool to neutralise the stagnation. |
